Welcome to

THE NATIONAL TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMME

in Egypt

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The British Council and the Ministry of Education are looking to select enthusiastic, skilled and motivated teachers to be Teacher Educators on an innovative teacher development programme called the National Teacher Training Programme (NTTP).

The aim of this programme is to develop the English language skills of English primary school teachers and teachers of Maths and Science who use English as the medium of instruction. The programme also aims to help teachers develop their skills and knowledge in using learner-centred teaching methods in their lessons. Over 37,000 teachers from across Egypt will join this programme and this is your chance to be at the heart of this by applying to be a Teacher Educator.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON NTTP?

We will set up Teacher Activity Groups (TAGs) across the country. These are groups for teachers that meet once a month for around three hours in their own Idara. Around 25-30 teachers will be in each TAG. In these TAGs, teachers will take part in activities to practise their English, learn and share ideas about teaching and make action plans to try new ideas and techniques in their lessons.

WHAT WILL TEACHERS EDUCATORS DO?

As a Teacher Educator, you will play a vital role in the success of the project and support the development of other teachers in your local community. Every month, you will coordinate and facilitate two TAGs for teachers in the same Idara.

You will be responsible for:

Setting up TAGs

Setting up two TAGs in your local area with the help of MoE officials

Giving TAG sessions

Facilitating two TAG sessions each month using materials provided by the British Council

Discussions

Setting up and facilitating discussions on social media groups such as Facebook

Documentation

WHAT SUPPORT WILL TEACHER EDUCATORS RECEIVE?

British Council Training

15 days of face-to-face training from the British Council

British Council Support

Development Programme

Please note: If you are selected as a Teacher Educator on NTTP, you will be required to conduct TAGs outside of school hours.
